Stock tank pools

A stock tank pool is an above-ground pool in galvanized steel or polyethylene that sets up in under an hour, with no digging or construction. Our 6 to 8 ft Hastings tanks sit on any flat, level surface. The pump with built-in filters attaches to the side wall with suction cups, no drilling. We deliver across Canada, except Newfoundland and Labrador and the territories, and Annie, our founder, answers your questions personally.

Super easy setup, in under an hour

  1. Place the tank on any flat, level surface. No digging, no construction.
  2. Fill it with your garden hose (a few hours depending on your water flow).
  3. Drop in the submersible pump: its filters are built in and its suction cups hold it to the side wall of the tank. No drilling, nothing to install. Plug it in and you're done. Turn it off and take it out before swimming.

Upkeep is just as simple: rotate the sponge filters and keep 0.5 to 1 ppm of chlorine or bromine in a floating dispenser.

Which size should I choose?

A 6 ft tank fits 2 or 3 people, a 7 ft fits 3 to 5 and an 8 ft fits 4 to 6. Capacities are those stated by Hastings.

Galvanized steel gives the classic metal look and great sturdiness; polyethylene is light, easy to move and easy to clean.

Good to know

  • Setup: a flat, level base is all you need; see Setting up a stock tank pool on your lot.
  • Water care: low-dose chlorine or bromine (0.5 to 1 ppm) in a floating dispenser; never salt in our tanks. See water care.
  • Filters: rinse them every week and replace them every 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Regulations: galvanized steel models have an inside height of 58 cm, below the 60 cm threshold of Quebec's regulation; also check your municipality's rules (rules in Quebec and Ontario).
  • Winter: drain it, clean it and turn it upside down on small blocks; see Winterizing your stock tank pool.
  • Warranty: 1-year Hastings manufacturer warranty on the structure.

Which size should I choose?

A 6 ft tank fits 2 or 3 people, a 7 ft fits 3 to 5 and an 8 ft fits 4 to 6. The 8 x 7 ft square fits 5 to 6 people.

Do I need a fence around a stock tank pool?

In Quebec, the provincial regulation covers pools 60 cm deep or more. Our galvanized steel models (58 cm) are below that threshold, the round polyethylene models (60 cm) are at the limit and the square (71 cm) is above it. Always check your municipality's rules.

Can I use salt in a stock tank pool?

No. Salt is not allowed in any of our tanks, galvanized steel or polyethylene. Use low-dose chlorine or bromine (0.5 to 1 ppm) in a floating dispenser.
