Winterizing Your Stock Tank Pool in Canada with ILOTank: Complete Guide

Preparing your stock tank pool for the Canadian winter is essential to prolong its lifespan. Thanks to ILOTank 's specialized products, you can effectively protect your galvanized steel mini pool from frost, snow, and harsh weather.


🧰 Recommended equipment

  • Soft brush + mild soap

  • Fine sandpaper

  • Isopropyl alcohol

  • Spray cold galvanized (cold galvanizing)

  • ILOTank pool pillow (inflated to 70%)

  • ILOTank water-repellent cover (sizes 6', 7' or 8')


Steps to winterize your stock tank pool

1. Complete draining

Empty your basin completely by opening the drain valve .

2. Cleaning

Wash the walls with a soft brush and mild soap . Rinse thoroughly to remove all residue.

3. Inspection and repair

Inspect the galvanized steel :

  • Sand the damaged areas with soft sandpaper

  • Clean with isopropyl alcohol

  • Apply 3 thin coats of cold galvanized spray to restore corrosion protection

4. Complete drying

Make sure the basin is completely dry :

  • Option 1: Turn the basin upside down on small blocks to allow air to circulate

  • Option 2: Place an ILOTank pool pillow inflated to 70% with an object underneath (non-metallic) to create a drainage slope and cover it with a quality cover.

5. Winter protection

Cover the pool with an ILOTank water-repellent cover that fits its size. It protects against snow, rain, leaves, and debris until spring.
